About Sarah Hegarty Chess Club:

We pride ourselves on the highest standards and ensure all out classes are engaging, fun, and tailored to the students. We happily take on complete beginners through to players competing for International championships and ensure each child gets the most of the experience.

We use physical and digital materials.

If they wish, children will be enrolled in individual and team competitions such as the Delancey UK Chess Challenge, the EPSCA national primary schools chess championships and AJIS chess championships.

About the teacher:

Sarah Longson (nee Hegarty). Former British Ladies Champion and regular member of the English Olympiad teams. I ahve been teaching chess to children for over 10 years and have taught British and European champions.

The main coach that will be taking the club is Paul Leonard who plays for Atherton chess club and has a national rating achieved from playing competitive league chess. He works at another school for us and is very focused on helping the children progress with their chess. He is also a maths and science tutor for children so is very experienced in helping and inspiring children.
